That said, my first purpose is to entertain, to tell a good story that hopefully keeps people up late. Everything else comes second. Who wants to read a polemic?
Duane (Louis) Swierczynski (Blondes Gift) ist von „Cloverfield“ (deutscher Kinostart am 31. Januar) schwer begeistert. Tage später: I’m still thinking about Cloverfield, by the way. It’s the kind of movie that sticks to your ribs. Und hier schon wieder.

„Rambo“-Erfinder David Morrell findet den neuen Rambo-Film ziemlich gut:

This is the first time that the tone of „First Blood“ the novel has been used in any of the movies. It’s spot-on in terms of how I imagined the character: angry, burned-out, and filled with self-disgust because he hates what he is and yet knows it’s the only thing he does well. (…) It’s not a 4-star movie — the villains are too superficial. But this is a solid three stars.
„Rambo 4“ kommt Mitte Februar in die deutsche Kinos.
Im ZDF Infokanal kann ein fünfzehnminütiges Ian-Rankin-Porträt von Tobias Gohlis genossen werden. Schönes Teil. Es geht hauptsächlich um Rankins neuestes Buch „Im Namen der Toten“ (The Naming of the Dead, 2006). Die Übertragung war bei mir etwas ruckelig, aber immerhin hat die ZDF Mediathek bei Rankin endlich wieder einmal funktioniert.
