Hinweise: Harlan Coben, Larry Beinhart, Michael Dibdin, Robert B. Parker

Harlan Coben schreibt einen neuen Myron-Bolitar-Roman. „Long Lost“ heißt das für den 31. März 2009 angekündigte Werk. Kurzentschlossene Hardcore-Fans können Coben am 30. September in New York erleben. Dann liest er einige Ausschnitte aus dem erstmals in der ersten Person erzählten Bolitar-Roman.

Bei uns wird 2009 sein jüngstes Einzelwerk „Hold Tight“ erscheinen.

Larry Beinhart („Wag the Dog“) beantwortet einige Fragen zu seinem neuen Krimi „Salvation Boulevard“:

To date, what moment in your career has made you happiest?
Publication of my first book. I felt like my ticket to park in the parking lot of life had finally been stamped.

What question do you get asked about your writing most often?
Did I get to meet Dustin Hoffman and Robert DeNiro [during the making of Wag the Dog.] The answer is no.

Scott Timberg schreibt in der Los Angeles Times über Michael Dibdin:

Despite their prevailing noirish tone, the books are anything but joyless. Indeed, they range from the deeply grim to the comic.

Robert B. Parker schreibt über den nach seinem gleichnamigen Western entstandenen Film „Appaloosa“:

I had no part in the movie other than to sell them my book. But I promise you, you will like it. It is a magnificent film. Check the court room scene for Daniel T. Parker, as the lawyer. If you liked the book you will love the movie. If you hated the book. . . why the hell are you reading my blog?

Die New York Times (A. O. Scott) schreibt über den Western:

There is no shortage of killing — it’s a large part of how Virgil Cole, Mr. Harris’s character, makes his living — but “Appaloosa” works best as a cunning, understated sex comedy. (…) The movie’s tolerant, good-humored view of its characters drains it of some dramatic intensity, but Mr. Harris seems more interested in piquant, offhand moments than in big, straining confrontations. (…) It’s not a great western, and, as I’ve suggested, it doesn’t really try to be. Some potentially interesting political themes — about what it means for a polity to privatize its apparatus of justice and security, about the relationship between righteousness and force — are left for other, more earnest pictures to explore. This one shows a square jaw and a steely gaze, but also a smile and a wink.

Der Trailer sieht gut aus – und ich würde den Film, der angenehm altmodische Unterhaltung mit guten Dialogen zu sein scheint, gerne auf der großen Leinwand sehen.
