Die Oscars 2025

Nachdem ich die Preisverleihung mit einigen guten Bekannten und netten Menschen live verfolgte (was die Verleihung sehr kurzweilig machte), gibt es schon jetzt die vollständige Liste der Oscar-Gewinner und -Nominierten. Bei den Gewinnern gab es einige Überraschungen, nämlich dass „Anora“ so einen grandiosen Durchmarsch machte (hatte ich zwar gehofft, aber ich gab dem typischen Oscar-Drama „The Brutalist“ und diesem Timothée-Dylan-Film die höheren Chancen), dass Demi Moore keinen Oscar erhielt und dass „Emilia Prez“, nachdem der Film in den letzten Wochen viel Gegenwind erhiet, sich doch ziemlich gut schlug.

Insgesamt bin ich zufrieden mit den Gewinnern und insgesamt gab es, auch wenn es in einigen Kategorien keinen eindeutigen Favoriten gab, erstaunlich wenig Überraschungen.

Vor wenigen Stunden wurden sie veröffentlicht und Deutschland hat, wenn man so will, mit „Konklave“ und „Die Saat des heiligen Feigenbaums“ gleich zwei Bester-Film-Oscar-Chancen.

Wenn Nominierungen eine eindeutige Prognose für Gewinne wären, würde „Emilia Pérez“ mit dreizehn Nominierungen die meisten Oscars erhalten. „The Brutalist“ und „Wicked“ folgen mit zehn Nominierungen, „A complete Unknown“ und „Konklave“ mit acht Nominierungen. „Anora“ folgt mit sehs Nominierungen.

Wenn ich wetten müsste, würde ich mein Geld in den wichtigen Kategorien – bester Film, beste Regie, bestes Drehbuch, beste Kamera und beste Schauspieler in Haupt- und Nebenrollen – auf „The Brutalist“ und „A complete Unknown“ setzten. Ersterer ist der Versuch, die große US-amerikanische Geschichte anhand der Geschichte eines Mannes zu erzählen. Letzterer ist ein braves Biopic über die Anfangsjahre von Bob Dylan. Beide Filme sind typisches Oscar-Futter.

Das kann über „Emilia Pérez“ und „The Substance“ (unter anderem auch als Bester Film nominiert) nicht gesagt werden.

Nach der 97. Oscar-Preisverleihung am Sonntag, den 2. März, in Los Angeles im Dolby Theatre wissen wir mehr.

Die Oscar-Gewinner 2024

Große Überraschungen gab es bei der diesjährigen, sehr flott über die Bühne gegangenen Oscar-Verleihung der Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nicht. Dafür war „Oppenheimer“ der viel zu eindeutig gesetzte Favorit. „Poor Things“ und „The Zone of Interest“ schlugen sich tapfer – und Emma Stone war fassungslos, als sie – überraschend nach den Prognosen, aber sehr verdient – für ihr Spiel in „Poor Things“ einen Oscar als beste Schauspielerin erhielt.

Die Oscar-Nominierungen 2024

Wer darf am 10. März eine der begehrten Oscar-Trophäen der Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences mit nach Hause nehmen?

Auf den ersten Blick gibt es bei der jetzt veröffentlichten Liste der Oscar-Nominierungen keine großen Überraschungen. In allen Kategorien gibt es starke Nominierungen. Erfreulich sind – aus deutscher Sicht – die gute Chance, den Oscar für den besten internationalen Film zu erhalten. Drei der fünf in dieser Kategorie nominierten Filme sind ‚deutsche Filme‘: „Das Lehrerzimmer“ ist eine deutsche Produktion und wurde von Deutschland eingereicht. „Perfect Days“ wurde von Japan eingereicht. Gedreht wurde mit japanischen Schauspielern in Japan. Aber Wim Wenders führte die Regie. „The Zone of Interest“ (Kinostart: 29. Februar) wurde von Großbritannien eingereicht. Aber er schildert – beeindruckend – das Leben des Kommandanten des Vernichtungslagers Auschwitz und seiner Familie (ein deutscheres Thema gibt es nicht) und Regisseur Jonathan Glazer inszenierte den Film auf deutsch. Ich würde hier auf die perfekten Tage von Wim Wenders tippen.

Das in vielen Kategorien nominierte Drama „Oppenheimer“ dürfte etliche Oscars erhalten. Unter anderem den Oscar für den besten Film, die beste Regie, das beste Drehbuch (wobei hier die Konkurrenz sehr stark ist) und für den besten Schauspieler. „The Holdovers“ (läuft Donnerstag an) und „Poor Things“ dürften dagegen öfter Pech haben.

Aber ich irre mich öfter und am Ende sammeln „Barbie“ und „Poor Things“ die Oscars ein.

Die Oscar-Gewinner 2023

„Everything Everywhere All at Once“ ist der große Gewinner der diesjährigen, der 95. Oscar-Nacht. Eine große Überraschung ist das nicht. Denn in allen Artikeln, die ich unmittelbar vor der Oscar-Preisverleihung gelesen habe, war „Everything Everywhere All at Once“ der große Favorit. Der deutsche Oscar-Beitrag „Im Westen nichts Neues“ wurde daneben noch erwähnt und dann lange nichts. Insofern überraschte micht auch nicht, dass Steven Spielbergs „Die Fabelmans“ (das war mein Tipp für den Oscar als bester Film) das Nachsehen hatte.

„Im Westen nichts Neues“ erhielt den Oscar als bester fremdsprachiger Film und einige weitere Oscars.

„Nawalny“, ebenfalls erwartbar und verdient, erhielt den Oscar für den besten Dokumentarfilm.

Heute präsentierte die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences die Nominierungen für die diesjährigen Oscars. Die Preisverleihung ist am 12. März am gewohnten Ort.

(Was für eine Liste aus Arthaus und Kommerz, die so etwas wie eine alle Geschmäcker abbildende Jahresbestenliste ist. Da steht „Avatar: The Way of Water“, einer der schon jetzt erfolgreichsten Filme weltweit, neben dem kaum gesehenen Arthaus-Drama „Women Talking“ [Die Aussprache, deutscher Kinostart: 9. Februar 2023], das letztendlich ein verfilmtes Theaterstück ist. Da gibt es europäische Kunstfilme, Biopics und der allseits beliebte, überbewertete „Everthing Everywhere All at Once“. Sehenswert sind alle nominierten Filme.

Letztendlich dürfte Steven Spielberg für seine kaum verhüllte Lebenserinnerungen „The Fabelmans“ den Preis erhalten. Und einige weitere. Denn die „Fabelmans“ sind für weitere Oscars nominiert.)

Heute präsentierte die Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences die Nominierungen für die diesjährigen Oscars. Die Preisverleihung ist am 12. März am gewohnten Ort.

Auf einen der 23 Filmpreise können hoffen (mit einigen Gewinnertipps und Kommentaren meinerseits – und, ja, liebe Lokalpatrioten, „Im Westen nichts Neues“ ist unter anderem als bester Film und bester fremdsprachiger Film nominiert):

(Was für eine Liste aus Arthaus und Kommerz, die so etwas wie eine alle Geschmäcker abbildende Jahresbestenliste ist. Da steht „Avatar: The Way of Water“, einer der schon jetzt erfolgreichsten Filme weltweit, neben dem kaum gesehenen Arthaus-Drama „Women Talking“ [Die Aussprache, deutscher Kinostart: 9. Februar 2023], das letztendlich ein verfilmtes Theaterstück ist. Da gibt es europäische Kunstfilme, Biopics und der allseits beliebte, überbewertete „Everthing Everywhere All at Once“. Sehenswert sind alle nominierten Filme.

Letztendlich dürfte Steven Spielberg für seine kaum verhüllte Lebenserinnerungen „The Fabelmans“ den Preis erhalten. Und einige weitere. Denn die „Fabelmans“ sind für weitere Oscars nominiert.)

Oscar 2022 – Die Academy Awards

Bereits ab 23.10 Uhr wird vom Roten Teppich berichtet.

Dieses Jahr habe ich wieder mehr nominierte Werke als letztes Jahr gesehen. Aber immer noch sind viele Filme dabei, die nur oder fast nur bei Streaminganbietern laufen. Das „fast“ bezieht sich darauf, dass manchmal einige Filme auch im Kino laufen dürfen. Hier in Berlin, wo „The Power of the Dog“ immer noch läuft, geschieht das öfter. In kleineren Städten dürfte es oft auf die Wahl zwischen „Dune“ und dem neuen James Bond hinauslaufen.

Wie üblich trage ich irgendwann am Montag die Ergebnisse nach.

Oscars 2021 – Die Academy Awards

Bereits ab 00.40 Uhr wird live vom Roten Teppich berichtet.

Die heutige Oscar-Verleihung ist, das kann schon vor der Verleihung gesagt werden, eine Verleihung, die als besondere Verleihung in die Oscar-Geschichte eingehen wird. Sie ist viel später als gewohnt und das Publikum im Saal ist viel kleiner als gewohnt. Eigentlich sind nur die Nominierten anwesend. Steven Soderbergh, der die Aufgabe übernommen hat, die Verleihung für ein Millionpublikum zu inszenieren, verspricht eine Show, die sich wie ein Film anfühlen soll. Das wäre ein radikaler Bruch mit den üblichen Verleihungszeremonien.

Zu den Filmen kann ich nichts sagen. Dafür kann ich dieses Jahr, im Gegensatz zu den vorherigen Jahren, in denen ich zum Zeitpunkt der Verleihung immer fast alle Filme kannte, zu fast allen Filmen sagen „Nicht im Kino gelaufen“, „noch nicht im deutschen Kino angelaufen“, „nur bei einem Streamingdienst verfügbar“ und „nicht gesehen“. Deshalb habe ich keine Favouriten.

Am Montag werde ich daher einfach die Gewinner nachtragen.

Oscar 2020

Nachdem „Wonder Woman“ die Welt gerettet hat, beginnt Pro 7 mit seiner Berichterstattung über die diesjährige Oscar-Preisverleihung. Ab 23.00 Uhr gibt es „Die größten Hollwood-Momente 2020“. Ab Mitternacht wird vom roten Teppich berichtet. Ab 2.00 Uhr sind wir dann endlich im Dolby Theatre, wo in den nächsten Stunden die Preisverleihung stattfindet.

Hier (noch einmal, teilweise aktualisiert) die Liste der Nominierten, mit einigen Anmerkungen und meinen Tipps, wer die Preise gewinnen sollte und, manchmal, wer sie wahrscheinlich gewinnt. Die Oscar-Nominierungen 2020 – und einige Anmerkungen dazu

Vor wenigen Stunden wurden die Nominierungen für die 92. Oscar-Verleihung veröffentlicht. Die Verleihung ist am Sonntag, den 9. Februar.

Die meisten Nominierungen erhielt „Joker“ mit elf Nominierungen. Jeweils zehn Nominierungen erhielten „The Irishman“, „1917“ (ab Donnerstag im Kino) und „Once upon a Time in Hollywood“. Sie gelten damit nach der offiziellen Lesart als Favoriten. Meine Favoriten sind es nicht unbedingt.

Hier die Liste der Nominierungen, mit einigen Anmerkungen und meinen Tipps, wer die Preise gewinnen sollte und, manchmal, wer sie wahrscheinlich gewinnt. Denn warum sollte ich nicht zweimal falsch liegen? Filme die ich nicht gesehen habe, sind mit „(NG)“ gekennzeichnet und kein Teil meiner Oscar-Prognose.

Wer kriegt dieses Jahr die Oscars? Meine Vorschläge für den Jahrgang 2019 (Update 25. 2. 2019: die Gewinner)

In wenigen Stunden ist es soweit: im sonnigen Hollywood werden die diesjährigen Oscars verliehen und wie jedes Jahr wurden einige Filme und Leistungen sträflich übersehen. Trotzdem gibt es in den Hauptkategorien keinen Totalausfall; – naja, „Bohemian Rhapsody“ ist zwar ein nettes Musikerbiopic, aber als besten Film sehe ich ihn definitiv nicht. Bei einigen der anderen Filme war ich etwas am Überlegen, aber am Ende würde ich „The Favourite“ viele Oscars geben.

Den hochgelobten „Roma“ lasse ich komplett außen vor, weil er als Netflix-Film nach einer Alibi-Kinoauswertung nur noch an einem Ort gesehen werden kann. Das widerspricht der Idee, dass über Kinofilme über einen längeren Zeitraum gesprochen wird und sie damit auch Einfluss auf gesellschaftliche Diskurse und andere Filme nehmen. Bis jetzt gelang das noch keinem Netflix-Film. Oder erinnert sich noch jemand an „Beast of No Nation“ und „Okja“?

Selbstverständlich werden die Preisträger nachgetragen.

Die Oscar-Nominierungen 2019

Sodele, einen Tag nach den Razzie-Nominierungen, gibt es die Oscar-Nominierungen.

Die Oscar-Verleihung ist am Sonntag, den 24. Februar, im Dolby Theatre.

Insgesamt eine schöne Liste empfehlenswerter Filme; – und jetzt muss ich schnell überlegen, welche Filme wirklich übersehen wurden. Ad hoc fällt mir nur Debra Graniks „Leave no trace“ ein.

Ein, zwei der nominierten Filme habe ich noch nicht gesehen. Deshalb gibt es jetzt noch keine Oscar-Gewinner-Tipps. In der Kategorie „Bester Film des Jahres“ schwanke ich zwischen „The Favourite“ (mit einem überragendem Ensemble), „BlacKkKlansman“ (sehr witzig und sehr wütend) und „Green Book“ (der als kleiner Film eine kleine Geschichte erzählt). In dieser Kategorie fehlt vielleicht Barry Jenkins‘ „If Beale Street could talk“. „Vice – Der zweite Mann“ sehe ich nicht als Gewinner in dieser Kategorie, aber Christian Bale als Dick Cheney überzeugt und ist unter Maske fast nicht zu erkennen. Beste Schauspielerin sollte „The Favourite“ Olivia Colman werden. Die Trophäe für die beste Regie sollte ebenfalls an „The Favourite“ gehen. Also an Yorgos Lanthimos. Sowieso hat der Film, der am Donnerstag in unseren Kinos anläuft, jeden Preis verdient.

Ein Wort zu Netflix: mit „Roma“ und „ The Ballad of Buster Scruggs“ sind zwei Netflix-Spielfilme nominiert. Während über „Roma“, auch weil er zahlreiche Nominierungen erhält, noch gesprochen wird, ist „The Ballad of Buster Scruggs“ vollständig aus der öffentlichen Diskussion verschwunden. Eigentlich gab es nach dem Netflix-Start nur einige Kritiken, ehe der neue Film der Coen-Brüder in der Versenkung verschwand.

Und das ist das Problem von Netflix-Filmen: es findet kein öffentlicher Diskurs über sie statt. Sie existieren praktisch nicht. Einerseits weil nicht jeder Netflix hat, andererseits weil die öffentlichen Foren und die kuratierte Auswahl eines Kinos mit der anschließenden (in der Realität kaum genutzten) Möglichkeit zum Gespräch über den Film fehlen. Es gibt keine besonderen Veranstaltungen, keine Sommerkino-Aufführungen, keine Wiederaufführungen, keine Happenings. Sie begegnen einem auch später nicht im Handel oder im Fernsehen. Sie sind wie ein Buch, das in einer Bibliothek verstaubt.

Vorberichte, Roter Teppich ab 00.40 Uhr und dann ab 02.00 Uhr die Preisverleihung bis zum Morgengrauen.

Gar nicht grauenhaft sind die nominierten Filme.

Und wie in den letzten Jahren gebe ich für die Filme, die ich kenne, meine Tipps ab in einer wilden Mischung aus „wird es auch wahrscheinlich werden“ und „wird es wahrscheinlich nicht werden, würde mich aber freuen“.

Und ich habe dieses Mal erstaunlich oft richtig getippt. Dafür sollte ich mich – – – mit einer Tasse heißen Kaffee belohnen. Alkohol gibt es erst nach 6 Uhr abends.

Die Oscar-Nominierungen 2018

Nachdem gestern die Razzie-Nominierungen veröffentlicht wurden (eine durchaus gelungene Auswahl) und schon seit Tagen eine wichtige Preisverleihung nach der nächsten stattfindet, wurden heute die Nominierungen für die diesjährigen Oscars bekannt gegeben.

Insgesamt und soweit ich die Filme kenne („Call Me by Your Name“ und „Lady Bird“ kenne ich noch nicht. Aber beide Filme dürften mir gefallen.) ist die Auswahl gelungen. Auch wenn – ebenfalls soweit ich die Filme kenne – einige Filme, wie „The Disaster Artist“ (wegen Belästigungsvorwürfen gegen James Franco) und „The Florida Project“ (sozusagen die weiße Ausgabe von „Moonlight“), fehlen. Ebenso „Wonder Woman“ Gal Gadot und die Regisseurin Patty Jenkins, die ja vor einigen Monaten als Oscar-Kandidatinnen gehandelt wurden. Aber Science-Fiction und Superheldenfilme haben bei der Akademie notorisch schlechte Karten. Und Tom Hanks hätte man für „Die Verlegerin“ (der neue Spielberg-Film, über die Washington Post und die Pentagon Papiere) als bester Hauptdarsteller nominieren können.

Die Oscar-Nominierungen 2017

Jetzt sind die Nominierungen für die diesjährigen Oscars draußen und, wenig überraschend, führt „La La Land“ das Feld der Nominierungen mit 14 Nominierungen an. „Arrival“ und „Moonlight“ folgen mit jeweils acht Nominierungen. Etliche weitere gute Bekannte sind dabei. Auch „Toni Erdmann“ mit einer Nominierung als bester ausländischer Film. Einige Filme sind noch nicht bei uns angelaufen, aber bis auf „Loving“ (derzeit ohne Starttermin), laufen die Spielfilme alle in den kommenden Wochen bei uns an.

Die Oscars werden am Sonntag, den 26. Februar, mit viel La La verliehen.
